Burning Monk. June 11, 1963. Malcolm Browne.

This Photograph of monk Thich Quang Duc by Malcolm Browne was taken during a Buddhist protest in Vietnam against a ban on flying the traditional Buddhist flag. A protest for granting Buddhism the same rights as Catholicism.

The photograph won a Pulitzer Prize and reclaimed fame on the cover of political band Rage Against The Machine's debut self-titled album.

This photo is as important as it is iconic. The image shocked the United States into pressurizing the Vietnamese President, Ngo Dinh Daim, into agreeing to the protests. It represents the extraordinary lengths to which people will go to, to fight for what they believe in.
